A designer

Damn! I was reading this blog and then I realised, “this is gonna cause another serious entry in my blog!” so here it is. I am from today going to make a concerted effort to use my pencil more in my field of work. Design solutions are steadily being watered down because we jump to the computer too quickly, so this is my pledge:

The computer is only a tool.

I will not be enslaved to Photoshop and Illustrator.

I will not create a bad habit by throwing away a good one.

The tool that makes me a DESIGNER is not the computer.

It is my brain.

I will not rely on “INSPIRATION”

I will not rely on “INTUITION”

In other words, I will not rely on “LUCK”

I WILL enhance my process

I WILL upgrade my method

I WILL develop my ability of perception, application and idea generation.

I will remember my roots

I will refer to the principles and fundamentals that have enhance what I am today

I will trust in my ability more than in my computer

OK

That’s it for the serious entry. Go back to what ever you were surfing before and forget about this, unless you plan to be a serious designer like me.

I have a decision to make

I have a decision to make. It wouldn’t be easy. It can’t be undone. I’m not guaranteed happiness afterward and I may compromise a lot by making ANY decision.

I can’t ask for advice. Only I can decide. I must be rational, I must be selfish, and I must also be compassionate.

I have to be decisive. I have to be assertive. I can’t just weigh pros and cons. I can’t just balance my options. I can’t over react.

I have to think, I have to think quickly. I have to act. I have to act seriously. I have to choose. I have to choose carefully.
